Description

This paper model of Kmen Castle near Pacov is accompanied by a history of the castle. The first mention dates from 1316, when Nemr of Kmen is recorded. The castle was later owned by the Tluks of Vokov until 1437, and under Jindich of Ziegelhein its palace was rebuilt between 1356 and 1366. In 1437, Purkart of irovnice bought Kmen; in 1450, Ji of Podbrady and Oldich of Romberk met there and concluded a peace agreement. After the castle passed to the Trkas of Lpa in 1456, its owners changed frequently. Around 1523 it was acquired by Petr Malovec, whose descendants held it until the beginning of the eighteenth century. Jan Krytof Malovec had it rebuilt in the Baroque style in 1673. Later, various foreign, mainly German, families owned Kmen, including Vclav Enis of Atter, of Scottish origin, who had it rebuilt in the Gothic Revival style between 1860 and 1870. The castle was taken into state ownership in 1948, became the property of the town of Pelhimov in 1964 and is now owned by the Vysoina Region.
